THE POWER OF CHOICE-Part II

Image
THE POWER OF CHOICE- Part II Yusuf and Musa have been friends since childhood. They attended the same primary school, secondary school and as fate would have it, same university.  Although they applied for computer science, Yusuf was offered statistics while Musa got admitted into computer science. They had both been intrigued by computers and had hoped that a degree in Computer Science would help them actualize their dream of being Software Experts.  Although broken at first, Yusuf didn't relent on his ambition and scoured the internet for free courses on Computer Science. Sometimes he took classes with Musa and bought books too.  After four years, they both graduated from the university. Yusuf, with a degree in Statistics and Musa, with a degree in Computer Science. Due to their parent's social ties, they had more offers than they looked forward to. And since their parents were close friends, they almost always got the same job offers.  ...

THE POWER OF CHOICE -Part I

THE POWER OF CHOICE - Part I Little Emily spent the rest of the day sulking. Alone in her room. Detached from the rest of the family. Her rich uncle who visited earlier had gifted her a thousand naira. But she wasn't happy. She preferred one of the fifty naira mint notes he had on him to the thousand naira bill. To ease her mood, her elder brother, about a decade older, offered a deal.   He was going to give her five mint notes similar to the type she sought from her uncle in exchange for the thousand naira bill. BE RESILIENT

BE RESILIENT No matter how hard you work on yourself, there will be times when everything that can go wrong will go wrong. Adversity will hit hard. Tragedy will sweep through. Threats will come from every corner. Everything that saps energy will become your new normal. This is also part of the thing we call life. Although these times can be tough even for people with the strongest characters, it is the best opportunity you have to strengthen your resolve, build your character and consolidate your efforts. Each time you build resistance against adversity, you emerge stronger, wiser and tougher. You move one step forward towards your goals. If there's one thing winners from all walks of life can attest to as a major reason for their success, it would be this: they didn't quit. Even when it seemed like the world was against them. They didn't quit even in the face of the fierce challenges. Put another way, they were resilient. So what is the secret to surviving adversi...

THE CLOCK IS TICKING

Image
THE CLOCK IS TICKING The countdown was awesome. There's this feeling of watching the clock tick past 12 on the last day of the year. It's indescribable. We waited for the countdown and finally we are in a brand new year. But the clock will continue to tick until calendars flip twelve times and the year is over again. So you can simply count the days or make it count. This year, separate yourself from the crowd of "this year dey run o" and yet not doing anything spectacular to make it count. I know you've heard this before but I feel it's worth restating: insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. You don't want that definition to apply to you this year. If you want real change, you'd have to change. Things will only change for the better if "you" change for the better. So sit back, introspect and make amendments before you set out to achieve the goals you designed for the year. Call yourself to ...
